Situated in the heart of colonial Haddonfield, The Haddon Fortnightly building was constructed in 1857 as the Third Methodist Church. It now serves as the home of the Woman’s Club. This Greek revival style Clubhouse is the perfect location for special events, and offers a number of spaces that can be used in a variety of ways.
Three sets of French doors open into a large terrazzo tile floor featuring sweeping, circular staircases on either side that ascend to a full balcony, overlooking the foyer, leading to the second floor ballroom/auditorium, which features a proscenium stage with professional lighting. The second floor also contains a full theatrical balcony, accessed by a pair of 19th century winding staircases, often used for larger events.
The first floor main entertaining space has a slightly elevated small stage and ten decorative columns centered with lovely chandeliers. Beyond this room is the formal “Tea Room,” with a large fireplace, built in cabinetry and an inviting alcove. A professional, commercial, newly renovated kitchen, powder room, men’s room and coat closets complete the picture.
...We chose the Fortnightly because neither of us belong to a church, but we wanted a more formal, traditional setting. It fit the bill perfectly. The size is perfect for 50 - 125 attendees. It has a lot of opportunity for photos. The custodian was helpful, and once we connected with the officer from the Fortnightly, she was very cooperative...
...The Fortnightly offered an intimate and historic setting for our wedding day that we would not have gotten at a typical wedding banquet hall. The club staff were wonderful to work with and allowed us to bring in the caterer, band and decorations of our choice, which while adding a little extra planning work for us, only added to the very personal and unique feel of our wedding day...

...The Haddon Fortnightly turned out to be the perfect space for our Mad Hatter Tea Party. Thank you for offering the white throne. It worked out perfectly with the theme and the location on the stage made it easy for guests to watch my daughter opening her gift. It was a wonderful day. Most of the guests and the caterer had never been inside the building. They were surprised to see how lovely the space was and how comfortable it was for a tea party. We were able to set up the lectern/podium for the guest to sign the guest book as they picked up their champagne in the foyer. That was a very nice area for my daughter, husband and I to greet our guests. The easel worked out perfectly for one of the shower games. Le Petit Chef turned out to be the perfect caterer for a tea party menu. The tea sandwiches and petit fours from La Petit Chef were so delightful. Moni and Walter were a pleasure to work with...
The Fortnightly was the perfect spot for a party to celebrate our retirement. The room easily accommodated our group of 100, and looked warm and inviting. We had the bar and an appetizer station set up in the foyer with food stations and tables set up in the main room. Dessert and coffee were in the drawing room. There was room for both mingling and dancing and we were thrilled that all went so well. Our caterer was very happy with the kitchen facilities. And the Fortnightly's caretaker was very helpful both before, during and after the event. I would recommend this venue to anyone.Alaine Williams
