The Haddon Fortnightly is a civic and social club for women and is a member of the New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Clubs (NJSFWC) and the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC).

Open to new members throughout South Jersey, the Fortnightly was organized in 1894 by a group of twelve women to create a “center for promotion of educational, literary and social interests in the community.” From that small beginning, The Haddon Fortnightly has become an organization well known and respected throughout the State of New Jersey. The Haddon Fortnightly is proud to have served its community for nearly 130 years.

A Note From The President

Welcome to The Haddon Fortnightly Clubhouse, an iconic Haddonfield building and a National Historic Landmark. I’m the current President of The Haddon Fortnightly, a women’s club that is approaching its 130th anniversary.

If you drive around Haddonfield today, you’ll see many of the names among those on the first roster of members, like Willits, Tatem, and Bancroft. Many people have the misconception that a women’s club is an excuse for a group of prim and proper ladies to sit and drink tea. I’m not sure that this was ever true, but that certainly isn’t true of The Haddon Fortnightly!

Our meetings include interesting speakers, reporting by our many committees and department, fundraising for social services, arts, literature and education. Our members come together with other like-minded members to pursue their interests, while at the same time creating projects to improve the community.

We hope you will join us to discover the interesting and impactful things our group does for this community.
